About the Role

The Company is seeking a President & CEO to lead its independent philanthropic and advocacy efforts. The successful candidate will be a mission-driven executive with a deep understanding of the organization's culture and values, particularly in the context of maritime transportation, national security, and global commerce. This role is pivotal in sustaining long-term donor confidence, strengthening alumni engagement, and advancing the company's philanthropic and advocacy impact at the national level. The President & CEO will be responsible for hands-on operational leadership, ensuring effective execution of priorities, disciplined financial management, and overall organizational performance and accountability. The ideal candidate will have senior leadership experience in philanthropy, advancement, advocacy, nonprofit management, or a related field, and will be a visible and trusted ambassador, comfortable engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders. Candidates for the President & CEO position at the company should possess strong financial acumen and exceptional relationship-building skills. The role requires a leader who can operate effectively within a small, complex, and highly relationship-centered organization, and who is capable of providing steady, values-driven leadership. While the company has a stable financial position and a respected national presence, the focus for the new leader will be on relationship strength, institutional credibility, and mission alignment. The President & CEO will work closely with the Board of Directors, supporting effective governance and strengthening trustee engagement. The position is full-time and on-site, with a regular, visible presence at the company's headquarters and active engagement with alumni, Academy leadership, and external stakeholders.
