About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Development to lead fundraising and alumni engagement for the School of Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and overseeing all fundraising and alumni relations activities, partnering with school leadership to execute annual fundraising plans, and leading efforts for the school's comprehensive campaign. This role requires the development and management of fundraising strategies for various initiatives, as well as spending a significant amount of time engaging with major gift prospects. The Executive Director will also be tasked with building strategic relationships with Deans, faculty, volunteers, and staff to support the solicitation of major gifts and will be involved in the management of the School of Medicine Board of Visitors. Applicants must have a proven track record of securing major gifts, strong communication and leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex priorities. A background in higher education, particularly within an academic medical center, is essential, as is the ability to articulate the institution's mission to donors. The role demands a high level of ethical conduct, discretion, and the willingness to travel and work evenings or weekends as necessary. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, organized, and proactive individual with a Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of fundraising experience, including a minimum of 5 years in team leadership. Experience in nonprofit fundraising and partnership building is preferred.
