About the Role

The Company is seeking an Assistant Vice President for its Technical Underwriting Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the technical underwriting discipline, governance, and modernization strategy within the underwriting organization. This role is pivotal in driving the evolution of the underwriting strategy, ensuring consistency, data-driven execution, regulatory compliance, and scalability to support profitable growth and long-term performance. Key responsibilities include leading the design and continuous improvement of underwriting policies, guidelines, and overall design, as well as overseeing the staff underwriting function and partnering with cross-functional teams to assess portfolio performance and implement technical underwriting and operational enhancements. Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in a relevant field, with professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or CIC strongly preferred. A minimum of 15 years' property and casualty insurance experience, with a focus on underwriting products for the construction industry, is required. The role demands a leader with at least 10 years' underwriting leadership experience, including 5 years of experience leading other leaders, and a proven track record in underwriting operations, process improvement, or technical underwriting teams. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in commercial lines, particularly in the construction industry, and a strong background in underwriting innovation, including the adoption of technology, analytics, and automation solutions. Exceptional collaboration, influence, and communication skills are essential, as is a data-driven, strategic mindset with a focus on operational excellence and talent development.
