A player-coach mindset is essential, as is a proven track record in securing major and principal gifts and leading complex fundraising campaigns. Applicants for the Senior Vice President for Development position at the company should have a bachelor's degree, with an advanced degree such as an MBA preferred, and more than ten years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fundraising disciplines, including major and principal gifts, complex gifts, and planned giving. Experience in higher education development is a plus. The role requires a strategic leader with a hands-on approach, a proven ability to recruit and develop high-performing teams, and deep knowledge of fundraising operations. Strong financial acumen, experience in budget development, and a data-driven, analytical mindset are also essential. The candidate must be an exceptional relationship builder and communicator, capable of engaging a wide range of stakeholders and crafting compelling donor communications.
