About the Role

The Company is seeking a General Counsel to serve as its strategic legal advisor and ensure the organization's compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to, non-profit governance, risk management, contract negotiation, and employment law. This role involves providing legal guidance on the company's mission, vision, and strategic partnerships, as well as managing the legal and contractual obligations of the organization. The General Counsel will also be involved in executive governance, cross-functional leadership, and collaboration, and will be expected to anticipate and mitigate legal risks to the organization. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should be licensed to practice law in the state of New York and have a minimum of 10 years' of progressive senior-level experience in non-profit law, corporate law, contract negotiations, or in-house counsel roles. The ideal candidate will have a background in non-profit or public sector organizations with a social or human services mission and experience in 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) non-profit law and regulations. Expertise in regulatory compliance, risk management, and strategic planning is essential, as is a strong understanding of employment law and experience in managing employment and labor relations. The role requires a candidate with a strategic mindset, strong legal judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively and build networks.
