About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to join its dynamic team at a pivotal moment in its history. The CDO will be a strategic and results-driven leader, responsible for designing and executing comprehensive philanthropic strategies that align with the institution's mission and vision. This role demands a seasoned professional with a proven track record in fundraising, including the ability to secure major and principal gifts, and a deep understanding of the arts and culture sector. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial and fearless fundraising leader, capable of expanding the organization's funding base and reducing reliance on the endowment. They will work closely with the President & CEO, Board of Trustees, and other stakeholders to meet and exceed annual and multiyear revenue goals, and to ensure that the institution's strategic and fundraising objectives are met. Candidates for the CDO position at the company should have at least 10 years' of progressive leadership experience in high-impact fundraising, with a strong background in major and principal gift solicitation. The role requires exceptional communication skills, the ability to build and manage a high-performing development team, and a commitment to the values of the institution. The CDO will be expected to be a mission-driven ambassador, engaging with the community and fostering a culture of stewardship, integrity, and excellence. Experience in the Philadelphia fundraising market is ideal, and a Bachelor's degree is required. The successful candidate will be a strategic partner, working across the organization to ensure that fundraising efforts are in line with institutional priorities and that the company's national and community engagement is strengthened.
