About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Animal Care to lead its Animal Care Division with a focus on marine life well-being, scientific excellence, and conservation impact. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader, driving the strategic development of animal care programs that align with the organization's mission to inspire ocean conservation. This role requires a champion of the highest standards in animal husbandry, with the ability to work closely with colleagues in education, conservation, and science to ensure a cohesive approach to the organization's goals. The VP will be responsible for divisional management, including budget oversight, and will play a key role in the development of living exhibits that reflect scientific accuracy and aesthetic standards while upholding the well-being of the animals. Candidates for the Vice President of Animal Care position at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' senior management experience in a large aquarium setting, with an expert-level understanding of marine animal husbandry. The role demands a proven track record in managing complex, multi-project environments and a deep commitment to organizational values and leadership competencies. The ideal candidate will have a background in marine conservation research and rehabilitation programs, and experience in fostering a culture of belonging, trust, and continuous growth. While not mandatory, a background in complex life support system design, a publication record in peer-reviewed marine science journals, and international experience in marine ecosystem management are preferred.
