About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) to take on a pivotal role in leading the development and delivery of flight-critical control systems for autonomous spacecraft. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and driving the technical strategy for GNC, with a focus on enabling autonomous rendezvous, proximity operations, and precision maneuvering in challenging environments. This is a hands-on technical leadership position that requires deep expertise in control theory, estimation, and orbital mechanics, as well as a proven track record in delivering flight-proven systems and leading high-performing engineering teams. Key responsibilities for the Head of GNC include owning the end-to-end GNC architecture, leading the design and validation of GNC algorithms, and overseeing the development of ADCS, orbit determination, and state estimation systems. The role also involves establishing engineering standards, driving the integration of GNC with other systems, and leading test campaigns to ensure operational readiness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in relative motion, orbital mechanics, and RPO or formation flying missions, and must be proficient in Python and C/C++. A strong systems engineering mindset and the ability to operate across disciplines are essential, as is the ability to recruit, mentor, and develop a high-caliber GNC team.
