About the Role

The Company is seeking a General Counsel to join its Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology and society. The successful candidate will be the leading legal voice, providing strategic legal counsel on a wide range of matters, including nonprofit, tax, and philanthropic law. This role involves advising on innovative legal structures to maximize mission impact, ensuring compliance with a complex web of regulations, and leading risk management efforts. The General Counsel will also be responsible for governance, acting as Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors, and managing the organization's multi-entity structure. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should have a J.D. degree, a license to practice law, and at least 15 years of legal experience, with a strong background in U.S. nonprofit and foundation tax law. Experience in early- to growth-stage venture capital equity or fund investments, as well as in global settings on cross-border deals and grants, is desirable. The role requires excellent people management and mentorship skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a collaborative, team-first orientation. The ideal candidate will be an autonomous self-starter, adept at turning complex legal issues into practical guidance, and will demonstrate a genuine commitment to the company's mission.
