About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director to spearhead the transformation of a local cultural institution into a professionally staffed and nationally recognized entity. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the revitalization initiative, working closely with the community, government officials, and historical preservation experts. This role demands a mission-driven and collaborative leader with a minimum of 3 years' progressive experience in nonprofit management, particularly in the areas of historic preservation, African American history, or community revitalization. The Executive Director will be tasked with overseeing all aspects of the organization's development, including organizational and board development, philanthropy, financial management, and stewardship. Cultural sensitivity, especially towards African American heritage, is essential, as is the ability to build strong relationships and engage a diverse range of stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial management, be adept at creating and implementing complex plans, and have a deep passion for cultural preservation and community engagement. While experience in museum management or interpretive planning is a plus, the focus is on finding a leader who is flexible, creative, and eager to step into this iconic role, with the ability to honor the past while forging a path forward. The Executive Director will be the face of the institution, representing it in various platforms and ensuring that its programs are mission-driven and support the needs of the community.
