About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President, Commercial Counsel to take on a pivotal role in the organization. The successful candidate will be a senior commercial legal leader, responsible for the full lifecycle of enterprise contract negotiation with a focus on large, complex customers. This includes MSAs, SaaS agreements, DPAs, order forms, and partnership contracts. The role demands a hands-on approach, with the expectation of quickly and creatively resolving legal blockers on high-value deals, particularly in regulated industries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial legal matters, with a preference for those who have experience in building and managing a commercial legal team. Key responsibilities also include advising on legal considerations specific to AI products, such as data privacy and evolving AI regulations, and partnering with product and engineering teams on data use obligations and security processes. Candidates for this role at the company should have a minimum of 13 years' commercial legal experience, primarily in-house at a high-growth enterprise SaaS or technology company. A proven track record in negotiating complex enterprise agreements, especially in regulated industries, is essential. The role requires a professional with strong commercial instincts, a player-coach mentality, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Experience with AI-native companies and familiarity with the EU AI Act are advantageous. The company is looking for a candidate who is not only adept at legal matters but also understands the business side, including revenue, deal structure, and risk trade-offs.
