Media & Entertainment Startup
Jr. Fullstack Developer
Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Jr. Fullstack Developer to join our dynamic software development team. In this role, you will contribute to building and maintaining robust web applications, collaborating to deliver innovative solutions. You will work closely with experienced developers to learn best practices and gain hands-on experience with a variety of cutting-edge tools and frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain features across a Next.js/React web application and its supporting services, including API routes, UI components, and authentication flows.
- Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and webhooks, working with Supabase (PostgreSQL), Redis/BullMQ job queues, and Node.js/TypeScript backend services.
- Contribute to Swift macOS utility applications including login helpers, background agents, and system-level integrations that interface with our cloud infrastructure.
- Support deployment and operations on bare-metal Linux servers (Rocky Linux), including systemd service management, FFmpeg/media pipeline maintenance, and GPU workload configuration.
- Write shell scripts and automation for infrastructure tasks such as service health checks, crontab watchdogs, and provisioning workflows.
- Maintain version control hygiene using Git clean commits, branch discipline, and meaningful documentation in a fast-moving, small-team environment.
- Participate in async-first collaboration: document what you ship, flag blockers early, and take ownership of tasks end to end.
Skills:
- Solid JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals; comfortable working in a Next.js codebase across both the frontend and API layer.
- Familiarity with Supabase or PostgreSQL schema basics, queries, and working with Row-Level Security or auth patterns.
- Exposure to Swift or willingness to learn: you don't need to be an iOS developer, but you should be comfortable reading and contributing to macOS utility apps.
- Comfortable on the Linux command line: systemd, file permissions, network troubleshooting, and reading logs without hand-holding.
- Understanding of RESTful API design, OAuth 2.0/OIDC flows, and token-based auth.
- Familiarity with S3-compatible object storage (AWS S3, or similar) and general cloud infrastructure concepts.
- Working knowledge of Git and a habit of writing code that others can read and build on.
- Strong ownership mindset in a startup, "that's not my job" doesn't work; you'll wear multiple hats and that should excite you.
- Experience with FFmpeg, media pipelines, SMB/NFS file sharing, MDM platforms, or any background in media & entertainment workflows.
