About the Opportunity
Berkshire Search Partners is partnering with a growing multidisciplinary engineering firm seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support complex consulting engineering and project management initiatives within the DC Metro region.
This is an opportunity for an experienced electrical engineering professional to take a leadership role within a collaborative and technically driven environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in electrical systems design, client consulting, project management, and team leadership across industrial, commercial, healthcare, higher education, federal, or infrastructure-related projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal leadership, clients, architects, and contractors while helping mentor and grow engineering teams within a dynamic organization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of electrical systems for multiple concurrent projects
Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables
Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams
Interpret and review technical drawings and specifications
Develop technical proposals, fee estimates, and qualification packages
Serve as a technical consultant to clients, architects, owners, and contractors
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards including:
NEC
IEEE
NESC
IESNA
IECC
Utilize electrical modeling software such as:
SKM
ETAP
or similar platforms
Support business development and client relationship management efforts
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
Participate in marketing and industry engagement activities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
10 15 years of experience in electrical engineering and project management
Strong background in power systems and electrical design within:
Industrial
Commercial
Healthcare
Federal Government
Higher Education
Infrastructure environments
Experience with:
AutoCAD
Revit
Electrical modeling software (SKM, ETAP, etc.)
Strong understanding of electrical and energy-related codes and standards
Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with lighting design
Experience with telecom, A/V, cybersecurity, or security systems design
Local AHJ relationships and permitting experience
Active involvement within industry organizations
Prior project management certifications or leadership experience
