Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, fluoride and sealant applications, and root planning.
- Complete dental x-rays and intraoral photographs as prescribed.
- Assess dental condition and needs of patients and recommend treatments.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene strategies such as brushing, flossing, and preventive maintenance.
- Maintain detailed and precise records of patients' treatment plans and progress.
- Implement appropriate procedures for infection control and equipment sterilization.
- Guide and advise patients towards achieving and maintaining optimal oral health.
- Collaborate closely with dentists and other team members to provide top-notch dental care.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in dental technology and hygiene practices.
- Handle sensitive patient information with confidentiality and care.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and adhere to industry regulations and standards.
- Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment consistent with health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid dental hygienist license in the state of operation; licensed in both DC and VA is a significant plus.
- A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience as a Dental Hygienist preferred but not mandatory.
- Exceptional communication and patient management skills.
- Commitment to high ethical standards and professionalism.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Empathy and ability to handle patients with special needs or who might experience dental anxiety.
- Flexibility in work hours, including willingness to work occasional Saturdays as required.
- Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a congenial and collaborative workplace environment.
- Technical proficiency in Denticon is a plus.
