Analyst - Plastics & Polymers Markets in Houston, United States About the Role:
In this role you will gain plastics & polymers industries expertise and convert your knowledge, insights, and analysis into sustainable, profitable Chemical Market Analytics' (CMA's) services that provide unbiased, expert views into the industries. You will assist in market conversations and research supporting senior analysts on topics ranging from industry economics, trends in trade, developing technology and supply/demand evolution. As your expertise deepens, you will eventually take ownership of relevant CMA models which support cost, price and margin forecasting and coordinate with global colleagues to assure consistency of method and interpretation. You will also build mutually beneficial relationships with key industry contacts across the supply chain and eventually be able to suggest enhancements to the existing services and ideas for new services. In this role, you will report to the Research and Analysis Executive Director.
You Will:
- Become fluent in the upstream petrochemical feedstock dynamics and interfaces with assigned polymers
- Provide analytical support in response to client questions in areas related to assigned polymers
- Provide subject matter support for single client consulting projects
- Maintain a detailed working knowledge of CMA's models, databases and tools
- Monitor production capacity changes and assure maintenance of CMA's capacity database for assigned polymers
- Support development of polymers and plastics industry trade data models and services focused on recyclables and sustainability
- Lead semi-annual global supply/demand analysis process for assigned polymers and act as editor for related publications
- Contribute written pieces about supply/demand and trade to monthly reports as needed
- Maintain current presentation slide decks for individual use and use by global colleagues
You Have:
- 2+ years' relevant work experience
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, biological sciences or related discipline -OR- equivalent work experience
- Data science skillset (preferred)
