About the job
The Debug Project (www.debug.com) is a team of scientists and engineers dedicated to developing innovative solutions for mosquito-borne disease control. We are developing technology to raise and release sterile mosquitoes.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will join a small, close-knit and energetic team of mosquito biologists, software engineers, and automation experts working to develop better ways to reduce the impact of mosquito-borne diseases. Responsible for Research and Development (R&D) across various processes and products, you will be central to the design, development, deployment, and ongoing improvements of Debug technology and products. You will have a wide breadth of mechanical engineering skills and experience, and will take initiatives, grow in fluid environments while collaborating across teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and build automated systems with a wide variety of electromechanical components, including servo systems, pneumatics, sensors, drive components, etc.
- Oversee the full product life cycle, from defining requirements and prototype validation to the final launch of production-ready systems.
- Act as a primary technical point-of-contact to science, software and operations teams to resolve foundational engineering challenges requiring unique and creative solutions.
- Design and iterate collaboratively with real-world users and use cases. Test prototypes and released products to verify compliance to design specifications. Investigate and resolve technical problems involving product performance in production equipment.
- Assess current equipment and procedures, and work with operations, science and engineering teams to improve processes and create multi-year road maps. Determine and establish product performance through engineering calculations and layouts; use appropriate engineering tools such as CAD, FMEA, and DFA.
