# Social Impact Leader Internship - Voice Up
*Create Positive Change. One Conversation at a Time. Your Cause. Your Community. Your Impact.*
Volunteer, Academic Credit, or Enrolled in Voice Up University

## Position Overview
This isn't just an internship it's your opportunity to **identify a cause that has meaning and value for YOU** and transform it into documented global impact through authentic conversation and safe community collaboration.

Voice Up seeks passionate Social Impact Leader Interns who are ready to:
- **Discover their cause**: What issue keeps you up at night? What change do you want to see?
- **Lift their voice**: Share your vision within a safe community that elevates and empowers you
- **Create local change**: Build tangible impact you can see in your own community
- **Expand globally**: Watch your work become one of Voice Up's documented examples shared worldwide

While documenting how other students solve society's biggest crises the 17-year research gap and the fake social media epidemic you'll simultaneously be **creating your own positive change, one conversation at a time**, supported by a global community committed to your success.

## The Dual Crisis Voice Up Students Are Solving

### **Crisis #1: The 17-Year Research-to-Practice Gap**
Research shows that proven interventions sit in academic journals for nearly two decades before reaching the people who need them. By the time research on mental health, healthcare access, or financial literacy becomes standard practice, **the students who needed it are already in their 30s and 40s**.

### **Crisis #2: The Fake Follower Mental Health Emergency**
Students today face a manufactured reality where:
- **6 out of 10 social media followers are FAKE**
- Real engagement averages just **0.45%** on Instagram
- Students spend **4.8 hours daily** comparing themselves to purchased fantasies
- Those spending 3+ hours on social media face **DOUBLE the risk** of anxiety and depression
- Mental health crises are driven by chasing artificial validation from fake metrics

### **The Voice Up Solution: Safe Community + Meaningful Impact**
Voice Up students refuse to wait 17 years OR measure their worth by fake followers. Instead, they:
- Read published research and implement it within **8-12 weeks**
- Build **authentic community** where they can be themselves without performance pressure
- Create **documented impact** serving real people with real needs
- Connect to **genuine purpose** through meaningful social change not vanity metrics
- Develop **safe spaces** where vulnerability, iteration, and authentic connection replace algorithms designed for addiction
