Onsite Full Time Not specified Level general

The Battery Engineer will have the following responsibilities:

1. Analyze and develop solid-electrolyte and advanced cell designs to quantify and improve battery performance using techniques such as Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), and Constant Current Constant Voltage (CC-CV);
2. Conduct research to optimize and enhance solid-electrolyte stability, multi-layer separators, and cathode and electrolyte formulations;
3. Synthesize and evaluate sulfide-based solid-state electrolytes and develop methodologies for characterizing solid-state and Li-ion batteries at pouch-cell scale;
4. Test and validate new materials and processes, improving energy density, charge retention, and overall cell performance through nano-coating and dry-processing techniques;
5. Engage in post-mortem cell properties analyses using methods and tools, including Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy, and X-ray Diffraction to assess degradation mechanisms and cycling behavior and improve battery performance;
6. Collaborate and communicate with battery scientists and cross-functional teams to prepare routine materials and formulations for battery assembly, write SOPs for coating/electrode processes, and generate technical reports for leadership; and
7. Support scale-up and manufacturing optimization, including establishing pilot solid-state battery lines and contributing to large-format pouch-cell development.
A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated employment experience in research and development of battery engineering and sulfide-based solid-state battery technologies.

Required employment experience must include the following:

1. A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience in developing and optimizing solid-state battery technologies, including solid electrolytes, composite electrodes, and multi-layer separators;
2. A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience in using advanced electrochemical analysis, including EIS, CV, CC-CV;
3. A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience in testing nano-coating layers on cathode active materials;
4. A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience in synthesizing, processing, and characterizing solid-state electrolyte materials, including dry-cathode assembly, tape casting, densification, and interfacial engineering;
5. A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience in optimizing coating methods and electrolyte/electrode compatibility;
6. A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience in assembling and testing split cells and pouch cells to run rate capability tests and long-term cycling of solid-state materials and formulations;
7. A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience in conducting post-mortem analysis using tools including SEM and XRD;
8. A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience in collaborating with battery scientists and engineers to develop SOPs, support root-cause investigations, and communicate technical findings across R&D and manufacturing teams.
