Why You’ll Love Working Here

Bistro To Go isn’t just a catering company; it’s a hospitality organization built around people, relationships, and community impact. For more than 20 years, we’ve been serving Pittsburgh with exceptional food and unforgettable events, earning recognition as one of the region’s premier catering teams, including the 2025 Pittsburgh Caterer of the Year award from Pittsburgh Magazine. Our mission has always been bigger than simply producing meals; it’s about creating extraordinary relationships through food and building a workplace where people grow together.

As our company continues to grow, we are building the sales leadership infrastructure needed to take Bistro to the next level. The Sales Leader will step into the role that has been driven entirely by our founder, Nikki Heckman, since the company’s inception. This is not a role you manage from a desk. You’ll be out in the community building corporate partnerships, visiting venues, coaching a sales team, and owning the relationships that fuel Bistro’s revenue.

Bistro To Go operates across three distinct revenue streams: daily corporate deliveries, staffed events and celebrations, and weddings, serving clients through 54 venue partnerships and direct corporate relationships. The Sales Leader will oversee all three, with a particular focus on growing our corporate catering base.

The goal is clear: $12 million in closed revenue this year, with a path toward $20 million and beyond as we open additional locations. For a driven sales leader who wants to grow with a company and leave a mark on a city, this is the opportunity.

And of course, there’s Pittsburgh. Known for its vibrant neighborhoods, passionate culture, and thriving events scene, it’s a city where hospitality truly matters. From historic law firms and universities to riverfront venues and corporate campuses, Pittsburgh is the perfect market to build a career in catering sales.

What We Value

Hospitality First

Hospitality isn’t a department at Bistro, it's the standard that drives everything we do. Whether interacting with a client, a venue partner, or a team member, we protect the brand’s experience and reputation through excellence and service. Our mission is to create extraordinary relationships through food, and every sales interaction is measured against that standard.

Relationship-Driven Sales

We believe great sales results come from genuine relationships. Our customers call back the morning after their event, not because the food was good, but because they felt like Bistro was in it with them. The Sales Leader earns that kind of loyalty by staying close, following through, and treating every client like they’re the most important account on the roster.

Ownership & Accuracy

From contract accuracy to follow-up timing, our sales team is accountable for every touchpoint in the client journey. The Sales Leader reviews every contract, catches errors before they cost the business money, and makes sure nothing slips through the cracks.

Humility & Coachability

We value people who welcome feedback, adapt quickly, and apply what they learn. One of the biggest failure modes in this role is changing existing successful processes before understanding why they work. Learn the playbook first.

Collaborative But Decisive

Bistro is a company of strong opinions at the table. We want someone who shows up with ideas, pushes back when necessary, and moves forward without being told twice. Collaborative but not reliant.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and develop a sales team of four, reviewing daily contracts, coaching communication standards, and building a culture of accountability and winning.

  • Own the $12 million revenue goal by tracking progress, setting benchmarks, and driving the corporate catering mix higher as a percentage of total sales.

  • Establish the sales team's KPIs and performance benchmarks from scratch by identifying what to measure, establishing accountability, and creating a scorecard the team can rally around without being handed one.

  • Manage 54 venue partnerships through routine visits, relationship maintenance, and ensuring Bistro continues to be the preferred or exclusive caterer at key locations.

  • Review and approve all sales contracts for accuracy, catching errors in pricing, staffing calculations, scheduling, and event details before they reach the client.

  • Monitor capacity across three revenue streams with daily deliveries, staffed events, and weddings, and manage the yes/no decision when volume approaches its limits.

  • Spearhead the development of management company contracts, targeting corporate buildings and campuses where Bistro can become the preferred on-site caterer.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $90,000 – $110,000+, depending on experience

  • Performance-based bonus structure tied to revenue outcomes

  • Health stipend

  • 401k

  • 2 weeks PTO

  • Paid parking

  • Flexible work schedule

  • 50% employee meal discount

  • Client relationship budget for venue visits, hospitality, and relationship-building

Why This Job Stands Out

  • Mission-Driven Hospitality Company: Bistro gave back $800,000 to Pittsburgh nonprofits last year, and 33% of the business serves the nonprofit community. For someone who wants their work to mean something beyond closing deals, that mission is real and felt throughout the company.

  • A Clear Revenue Target with Real Upside:  The goal is $12 million this year, with a path toward $20 million as new locations open. The compensation structure is built to reward performance. For someone who wants to grow their earnings alongside a growing company, the ceiling here is real.

  • An Established Brand with 20+ Years of Reputation: Bistro To Go walks into every sales conversation with decades of credibility and community trust. Reviews on WeddingWire, The Knot, Google, and Facebook are consistently outstanding. Clients say their reviews are what brought them in. You won’t be building from scratch.

  • Growth & Long-Term Opportunity: As Bistro expands into additional venues and locations, the sales leader will grow alongside the company. For the right person, this is a long-term senior leadership opportunity in one of Pittsburgh’s most respected hospitality brands.

Who We’re Looking For

Someone who is…

  • A sales leader with experience managing $6–$12+ million in revenue, ideally in catering, food service, hospitality, or a corporate B2B sales environment.

  • A proven team leader who has managed a sales team and knows how to build culture, coach communication, and hold people accountable without creating fear.

  • Corporate trained and disciplined, who understands structure, knows how to manage their time, and keeps moving when the days get full and fast.

  • A natural relationship-builder who doesn’t follow a script. They read their customer, ask the right questions, and make the client feel like they are the most important person in the room.

  • Experienced in selling across multiple customer types simultaneously — including direct clients booking private events, venue partners managing preferred caterer lists, and corporate accounts with recurring weekly needs. Comfortable adjusting tone, formality, and approach for each audience while maintaining a consistent standard.

  • Detail-oriented with contracts and numbers, catches pricing errors, staffing miscalculations, and scheduling mistakes before they reach the client or cost the business money.
