Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive oral examinations and assessments of dental condition and treatment needs of patients.
- Carry out preventive and maintenance treatments such as scaling, root planing, debridement, and applying fluorides and sealants.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) to help detect abnormalities and diseases.
- Assist in diagnosing common oral diseases and conditions based on clinical visual and radiographic findings.
- Provide patient education and counseling on oral health, plaque control, and dietary needs contributing to dental issues.
- Maintain accurate patient records and document patient treatment and progress.
- Adhere to strict compliance with infection control, use of personal protective equipment, and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Collaborate with dentists and other team members to ensure optimal patient care.
- Manage time efficiently to maintain a balanced patient schedule.
- Stay updated with advancements in dental technology and hygiene practices.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene or related field from an accredited dental hygiene program.
- Valid Dental Hygienist state license and certification to practice in the location our office is based.
- Thorough knowledge and expertise in using dental instruments and technology relevant to dental hygiene treatments.
- Proficiency in taking and interpreting dental radiographs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills capable of educating and engaging patients regarding their oral health.
- Detail-oriented with an emphasis on patient care and professionalism.
- Willingness to work full-time hours with a flexible schedule that meets the needs of our practice.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-energy environment while maintaining a calming, friendly manner.
- Commitment to continuing education and training in dental hygiene and related fields.
- Experience in using electronic patient management software preferred.
