Expanded Project Description & Significance
PROJECT OVERVIEW What the Miracle Has a Monster Initiative Actually Is
Miracle Has a Monster is more than a children’s book. It is a youth emotional wellness ecosystem rooted in story, empowerment, and early identity formation.
The initiative includes:
• A Story-Based Emotional Regulation Model helping children name, understand, and navigate big feelings
• A Classroom & Family Curriculum used in Title I schools, city government youth programs, and family engagement events
• A Tool for Hard Conversations giving children a safe metaphor for discussing fear, confidence, and inner challenges
• A Scalable Wellness Resource guiding schools, families, and communities in supporting emotional health through literacy
WHY THIS PROJECT MATTERS The Significance
1. Children are facing rising anxiety at earlier ages.
2. Schools need emotionally supportive curriculum tools.
3. Families need accessible language to discuss feelings.
4. Youth mental health and prevention resources are a national priority.
5. A student author created this work, modeling youth leadership and authentic connection.
THE LARGER SIGNIFICANCE What This Work Symbolizes
Miracle Has a Monster represents:
• Safety in an age of stress
• Visibility in an age of silence
• Storytelling in an age of emotional overwhelm
• Connection in an age of fragmentation
It blends story, science, and emotional development into a framework that strengthens children’s confidence and resilience.
