MAKE THE DIFFERENCE MEDIA NETWORK
FAMILY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INTERNSHIP

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Family & Community Engagement Internship prepares emerging leaders to serve as bridges between families, communities, and the Make the Difference Media Network (MTDMN). The internship develops skills in relational leadership, community outreach, emotional safety, and culturally grounded engagement.

PROGRAM GOALS
1. Build trust with families and community partners.
2. Facilitate small-group conversations and listening circles.
3. Support MTDMN community outreach initiatives.
4. Strengthen emotional-literacy and trauma-informed communication.
5. Uplift community assets and cultural wisdom.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support MTDMN listening sessions.
• Assist with community storytelling gatherings and events.
• Identify local leaders, storytellers, and cultural wisdom-keepers.
• Document insights from community engagement activities.
• Participate in belonging campaigns and field projects.
• Build partnerships between MTDMN and community organizations.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
Interns will learn to:
• Facilitate restorative conversation circles.
• Understand cultural and psychological foundations of belonging.
• Apply emotional-safety strategies in diverse settings.
• Support strategic outreach and relationship-building.
• Contribute meaningfully to MTDMN’s national belonging movement.

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE INCLUDES
• Weekly engagement labs.
• Facilitation and communication training.
• Direct collaboration with MTDMN outreach teams.
• Fieldwork in community engagement and relationship building.
• Leadership development focused on service and dignity.
• Final project: Community Belonging Blueprint.

WHO SHOULD APPLY
Ideal candidates are empathetic, community-driven, strong listeners, culturally responsive, and interested in education, counseling, public health, or service leadership.
No prior experience is required only heart, curiosity, and dedication.

IMPACT
Interns become ambassadors of connection, strengthening communities, uplifting family narratives, and helping shape MTDMN’s national movement for emotional wellness and belonging.
