Product Engineer, Global Manufacturing Engineering
Note: Google's hybrid workplace includes remote roles.
Remote location: Czechia.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in manufacturing or product development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
- Experience setting up manufacturing assembly processes, managing product launches and assembly process optimization within manufacturing operations.
- Experience in technical leadership, project management, and executive communication.
- Experience as a technical lead for a Data Center electrical hardware engineering project.
- Experience in managing Bill of Materials (BOM), Product data management tools like Agile, product-specific test plans and evaluating test coverage.
About the job
As a Product Engineer within Global Manufacturing Engineering, you will provide sustaining support for mass production products at the Contract Manufacturer or Joint Development Manufacturer, including driving production factory readiness for product changes, supporting component qualification, providing training, and making sure that the desired product performance and requirements are met and maintained through resolving systemic product manufacturing issues and driving continuous improvement in product health.
In this role, you will engage in New Product Introduction by consolidating Global Manufacturing Engineering input on Design for Manufacturability or Design for Testing, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis items, and yield issues to be provided to the New Product Introduction team for resolution in order to meet the Product Life Cycle phase exit criteria.
Responsibilities
- Build and deploy platforms for Google data center hardware (server, storage, switch, rack, or accelerator) at the global manufacturing partners.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and root cause manufacturing yield issues and data center field escapes.
- Drive issues to closure with corrective and preventive measures.
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) early engagement to drive deliverables from NPI (Bill of Materials readiness and multi-sourcing, First Pass Yield, Manufacturing Capabilities, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility, Design for X, Standard Operating Procedure, Field Replaceable Unit, failure diagnostics, etc) to meet mass production requirements before taking up sustaining ownership.
- Collaborate with internal engineers and manufacturing partner engineers to drive improvement for product manufacturing efficiency and effectiveness, including test coverage, and reduce cost.
