Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and revenue accounting (ASC 606) in a public accounting or multinational company setting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.
  • Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and challenges early, manage time, and follow work plans.
  • Ability to have strong attention-to-detail, organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively with executive management.

As part of the broader Business Finance Accounting team, the Ad Rewards Controllership team plays a key role in supporting Google's advertising sales incentives, working cross-functionally on key business initiatives that directly contribute to the success of Google's advertising products.The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $106,000-$151,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee global accounting processes for advertising business growth, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition standards and internal controls (i.e. contra-revenue, OpEx, Cost of Sales, accrued liabilities and deferred-revenue and the related balance sheet reconciliations).
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to define, implement, and scale accounting systems and operational procedures that mitigate financial risk.
  • Leverage SQL and data analytics to drive process improvements, automate workflows, and provide quantitative insights for business decision-making.
  • Provide accounting guidance to sales and product teams on business models, complex agreements, and the operational components of new product launches.
  • Execute month-end close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and present clear financial results to management.
